Patricia A. Jefferson is a native Houstonian and a proud product of the Houston public schools and the 5th Ward community. Following graduation, with honors, from Phillis Wheatley Senior High School, undergraduate studies in Elementary Education (Bachelor of Science Degree) were completed at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas and graduate studies in Administration (Masters Degree) and certification in Mid-Management were completed at Texas Southern University.
A former “Teacher of the Year”, Ms. Jefferson’s tenure in public school education has spanned some 45 years with service as a Classroom Teacher, Assistant Principal at Shadydale Elementary School, Principal at East Houston Intermediate School, and Field Education Supervisor with the University of Houston’s Department of Urban Education – providing instruction and supervision of teacher candidates via the Center for the Professional Development of Teachers.
Ms. Jefferson is a lifelong member of Sloan Memorial United Methodist Church – Rev. Leroy Elder – Pastor. She has served as a Lay Leader, member of the Chancel Choir, Spiritual Growth Coordinator for United Methodist Women, Chairperson for Christian Education, and is a Certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church.
Ms. Jefferson’s personal commitment to excellence continues to provide opportunities as workshop facilitator, project coordinator, and motivational speaker for both educational and religious entities.
Ms. Jefferson is the proud mother of a daughter, now deceased, who at age 37, was a living testimony of God’s miraculous power, having exceeded her doctors’ prognosis for life and living with the day-to-day constraints of cerebral palsy and its accompanying limitations.
